My husband and I spent our 35th anniversary here and I have to say it was one of the most memorable vacation destinations we have been to. All the reviews posted previously on here says it all and more. My only regret is that we didn't spend more time at the casita. We spent 3 days exploring the Samana` peninsula...well worth the trip. Every beach was more beautiful than the one before it and the El Limon waterfall is awesome! Meanwhile, at the casita, the view is amazing. The vision I have of looking out to the ocean from the pool will never leave me. The 96(?) stairs to the beach below was a bit of a challenge but I made the trip at least once a day. Found quite a bit of sea glass to make the hike well worth it! One thing I would recommend is to learn some basic Spanish. Few people in town speak English, but that did not detract from the experience. Looking forward to returning in the near future!

Pictures and words cannot describe the Casita... You MUST go and see for yourselves. Once we got there we had to pinch ourselves! Driving in from the front gate the views of the ocean and cliffs pull you in. The infinity pool is fantastic. We liked the fact that it was a salt water pool as well. It was very hard venturing out from the Casita. Before we got there my husband and I had several plans to go out on day trips, even adding a GPS to our car rental but only used it once! We then decided to either just stay at the Casita or take a short drive to Playa Grande, which was one of, if not THE best beach we have ever been to. Wilson, the local owner of a small restaurant on the beach greeted us with a smile and let us pick where we wanted to sit. He put a table and chairs down for us under the coconut tree of our liking, and fittingly said Welcome to Paradise!.
We stayed there for a week and were so sad to leave! The entire place was immaculate. The gardener and nightwatchman were both very polite and helpful. They also gave us our privacy, so it felt like they weren't even there. We did not regret staying at the house instead of going on day trips because we know we will travel to Cabrera again! Thank you Gretchen for such a pleasant place to call home for a week. Hope to stay there again soon because it was truly memorable.
A fantastic setting!

This is one of the most charming, serene, secure and all around COMFORTABLE casitas you will find anywhere in the Caribbean. Nestled into the side of a mountain, at the end of a drive that services four other homes, you find yourself in your own private little paradise 60' or so above the ocean. A beautifully maintained lawn with a pool that steps is from your bedroom. The view here down and across the ocean is stunning, every day--all day.
I have had the opportunity of enjoying a career sailing the oceans in some pretty cool places. Cabrera is right up there for some top spots for it's beautiful beaches and the great views from the north shore of D.R.,but the lovely and fun locals of Cabrera are indeed the selling point here.
You can chat up the fishermen as they bring in their catch at a little beach just before you enter Cabrera coming from the casita. GREAT dorade at an excellent price!
The restaurants in Cabrera offer some great local dishes.
this was truly a great stay for us ,and of course we did not want to leave, ever.
We had the good fortune of being on island when the owner of the casita was there as well. A gracious hostesses was kind enough to show us around, introduce us to a few locals, and grace us with her company for dinner.
THIS is a very cool spot!
